Jerry H· 3 months agoWe loved our dinner at Vinegar Hill House. It might be the poster child for the “hidden gem“, tucked out of the way along the edge of Vinegar Hill. It’s a great restaurant, one of the best in Brooklyn. The atmosphere is, rustic chic? It’s casual and inviting and the service is warm and understated. All the dishes we tried were fantastic. However, I think they do vegetables best and we adored the snap peas and asparagus. The summer squash side is the best preparation of that vegetable I can recall ever having. The lamb rigatoni and the Arctic char were fantastic. And don’t skip dessert, the Guinness chocolate cake was super moist and decadent, a perfect way to end our meal. We can’t wait to go back, maybe for brunch next time as we hear it’s amazing.
Amandip Kaur· 6 months agoIf you’re looking for classic American brunch then this place is good for you; simple menu with all the classics. Personally I was not fan of the Apple sourdough pancake but others like it — so if that’s your thing then great. My only suggestion: offer freshly squeezed orange / grapefruit juice. Service was excellent: all the staff were the kindest. Atmosphere was cosy and welcoming; we were sat in the dining room area but they have also opened the backyard seating now which is great for warmer weather. Tables are quite small and seating is pretty tight but it’s okay I guess.
Joseph Bender· 5 months agoAn absolute hidden gem tucked quietly away in the back of Vinegar Hill. The restaurant is dripping with passion and character, and was the perfect romantic refuge during a warm spring downpour. Simple, tried & true dishes that use quality ingredient and thoughtful preparation to transcend simplicity and ascend to comfort food nirvana.
Andrew Chang· a year agoPhenomenal food, service, ambience, and more. The food didn’t try too hard. Seasonal ingredients with balanced flavors. Chicken liver mouse and beets were one of the best I’ve ever had. I LOVE that they didn’t hide any ingredients in drenched sauce but rather just showcased it with accompaniments. Besides the food, their wine list is actually one of the best in the region. No overpriced, overhyped names but rather unique smaller producers. Such a unique and eclectic mix of wine that again doesn’t try too hard to be complex. The server was so nice and welcomed my wife and I right away. I’m only upset this is the first time I’ve been here after living in Brooklyn for 4 years.
Na Tasha· 11 months agoWouldn’t recommend the omelette or the egg sandwich but the sourdough pancake and the sausages on the side menu are worth the hype and totally worth the trip! 🤤 Likely the best pancakes in the city! Better than the pancakes at Golden HoF - which used to be our favorite before we discovered this place
