Remidemic· 4 months agoI liked the calamari the most. The mezcal shot that comes w the beer was really tasty. Rice rolls were tasty but it’s definitely novelty paying $30 for $6 China town street food. The mc rib was good. I really like high end versions of fast food, but I was already kinda full by then. Tasted just fine the next day as left overs. Overall, worth a try.
Lori· 6 months agocame to try their take on canto-american fusion. there were some interesting dishes, we tried a few - long beans with yaw teow, fried squid (loved the tartar w/ it), char sui sandwich (recommended by waiter), and the fried milk sundae (must try). i did like their take on fusion and the dishes were all tasty and we left with empty plates and full stomachs.
Stephanie Tam· 6 months agoWhat a cozy corner of the world with a great selection of food and drinks. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The food was a fun take on Cantonese fusion, my only regret was getting mostly fried food. The chrysanthemum salad was delightful, bright, and refreshing. Everything was seasoned exactly as described and it was such a fun take on food items. Will definitely come back.
Faithy Leong· 5 months agoI was looking forward to trying Bonnie's on my trip to NYC after hearing about them for a few years. However, I cannot recommend this place if you are there for Cantonese food as it is not. Everything we ordered was too salty, and there's one or two elements that's doing too much. I was bloated after eating the food from it's sodium content. We ordered what was essentially moules-frites, fried calamari, consommé, long green beans topped with sliced old yautiu/Chinese donut, steamed fish (with clams) drenched in gravy that was much better as leftovers in homemade jook. The only thing that was actually Cantonese was the turnip cake. While I wouldn't want to return, I don't doubt Bonnie's technique or ability to cook, and their service was excellent.
Scarlet· 8 months agoFood was very underwhelming. Everything seemed “gimmicky”. The bread for the sandwich was a little too dense, and flavour of the meat itself was barely there. Got some hot sauce on the side just to taste something. Pricey for what it was. Not sure how it’s bib gourmand. Service was nice although maybe slightly misogynistic given the waiter only spoke to my partner and not me and also only gave him the bill (not a big deal but the female staff immediately did talk to me in comparison!) Vibey atmosphere and drinks were actually really good. Give the food a miss if you have a varied palette
