Bella· 7 months agoMile End Deli was a really nice experience overall. The space is cozy and has a great vibe, and our waiter was super friendly and attentive which made the visit even better. The portions are definitely generous, and I personally really enjoyed the schnitzel sandwich, it was satisfying. That said, my husband is from Montreal, so he had higher expectations for the poutine and smoked meat. He felt like it didn’t quite capture that authentic “back home” flavor he’s used to, which was a bit disappointing for him. For me, since I don’t have that comparison, I still enjoyed the food overall. Would definitely come back, especially for the sandwiches and the atmosphere!
Matt Murphy· 3 months agoWe celebrated Canada Day by stopping by for some poutine and labatt. Awesome food and drink. Everyone in there that we spoke to were great. The poutine is authentic and delicious. Cannot go wrong.
Ettore Michelin· 10 months agoMile End in Brooklyn has been on my list of places to check out for a long time, and it did not disappoint at all! I got a couple of sandwiches to go, but the inside looks like a family-run, hospitable, and cozy diner... exactly what you want! Love the Canadian soul too! I followed Ali's recommendation and tried the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich (their special), and I also got the one with chicken liver. Both super Yummy! Will come back to dine in 10/10 See you soon :)
Somy Kh· 10 months agoI had high hopes for this place. After trying Schwartz’s in Montreal and Katz’s in New York, I didn’t expect to be served supermarket-style pastrami. We ordered the smoked meat sandwich, Caesar, and poutine, and then tea and chocolate babka. Everything except the smoked meat was fine. The smoked meat itself was very disappointing, I’d probably give it one star. it’s also over priced. Update (two days later): Since eating the smoked meat sandwich here, my husband has had an upset stomach. I don’t know how long the pastrami had been sitting, but this made the experience even more disappointing.
Blake Rasmussen· 10 months agoA charming Montreal-style deli. The smoked meat was excellent, the bread was great, and this was a little slice of Canada in NYC. The turkey Reuben was also extremely good, maybe even better, and the pumpernickel bread was one of the best sandwich breads I’ve had this year. The poutine was indeed the best in the city and was made not just correctly but with a lot of care - very nostalgic. And Labatt blue on draught! There are only a few places in the city where you can buy that beer - overall, we loved it and we’ll be back.
