Brooklyn is not one stop

This is a large New York City borough with distinct neighborhoods and long cross-borough journeys. Plan around a few nearby places each day rather than a borough-wide checklist.

A useful first-day plan

Start in Brooklyn Heights, walk the Promenade, and explore Brooklyn Bridge Park and DUMBO. Add a meal nearby. Save Williamsburg, Prospect Park, or Coney Island for another outing.

Plan around the season

Summer brings beach days and outdoor events; winter calls for shorter walks and indoor stops. Coney Island amusement schedules are seasonal, while individual museums and venues maintain their own calendars.

Before you head out

Check MTA service changes, current admission policies, weather, and accessibility information. Carry comfortable shoes and a backup indoor option. Use current official information rather than assuming an attraction is open.
