Millie Shi· 2 months agoThis has to be one of the most beautiful brunch/dinner views you can get in the city! If it’s nice out, 100% ask to sit outside. We almost didn’t because we thought it’d be too hot, but it’s shaded and there’s usually a breeze coming off the water, so it was comfortable even on a hot summer day. Food was pretty good - apps felt a little overpriced but overall it was better than expected because they could’ve easily chosen to coast by on the views: Fluke crudo - the seasoning on this was impeccable. Good acidity. The cuts on the fish though…💀 I’ve never really cared that much about precise cuts or whatever but these were so rough even I noticed. Burrata - sounds basic but the peach jam is AMAZING. No notes, great dish. Chicken shawarma - really solid, I liked the addition of mint in the salad. Burger - pretty good, the patty itself was a little over and underseasoned but the sauce and the peppers made the whole thing. Fries - really really salty! We were literally scraping salt flakes off several fries. But otherwise good fries!
Marie· a month agoCelestine in Dumbo is often described as Mediterranean restaurant, but I would say the concept leans more toward modern Middle Eastern influences. The menu features dishes such as couscous, hummus, salads, chicken, beef. Overall, the menu is rather small, and I feel there is definitely some room to expand and optimize the selection. That said, the atmosphere is lovely. The team is genuinely friendly and welcoming, the restaurant is stylish and effortlessly cool, and the real highlight is the outdoor terrace — surrounded by greenery, with pleasant music and a beautiful view across the East River toward Manhattan. One thing to keep in mind is the noise from the Manhattan Bridge. Trains pass over it every few minutes and can be surprisingly loud, briefly interrupting what would otherwise be a very relaxed atmosphere. It is simply part of the location and something to consider if you are looking for a particularly quiet brunch. Overall, if you enjoy this style of cuisine, Celestine is a beautiful spot for brunch or drinks, especially on the terrace. The setting and views make it a great place to experience New York from a different perspective — from the Brooklyn side, looking back toward Manhattan.
C E· 2 months agoWe were very pleased with the beautiful view of the bridge from our seat. Our overall experience was great. We enjoyed the food and the service, and we would recommend. For starters we had the crispy zucchini and the fluke crudo. They were both very well made but the zucchini stole the show with its crispy texture, flavourful base and the addition of hot honey. For mains we tried the chilli crab pasta and the salmon. The pasta was very good and had a generous amount of crab. We loved the flavours however thought it had just a little too much cream that overpowered the dish a little bit. The salmon was very nicely cooked, not dry and the skin was perfectly crispy. The orzo with its tzatziki inspired sauce was simple and refreshing. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse cake which was very good but not the most unique or memorable. Overall very good experience.
Sam K· 4 months agoCelebrated my birthday here and could not have been happier with the experience. The service is phenomenal and attentive—from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, you know you’ve entered somewhere special. The food was so delicious I’m still thinking about it a month later. Everything we ordered was a hit—the chicken was so tender, the hummus was mouthwateringly good, the chocolate ice cream was the richest I’ve had in my life. Highly recommend the basque cheesecake as well. Because it was my birthday, they asked if I wanted a seat with a view, and wow, what a view! Watching the bridge at golden hour basked in light and then seeing it light up at night was unforgettable. The ambiance was romantic and cinematic. Cannot say enough good things about this place! Would love to come back. Food, service, atmosphere: 1000/10!
A TRUTH PRODUCTION· 5 months agoGreat restaurant with an amazing view and delicious food. The staff was so friendly and professional. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile. The restaurant was very clean, music was at the perfect level where you could hear it but still have a normal conversation. The windows were clean so you can take advantage of the amazing views and take pictures. The staff was very attentive, but we never felt rushed. Definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time. The restaurant is more upscale and the prices reflect that but it is worth it.
