I visited the Brooklyn Museum before. It’s one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States, and also the second-largest museum in New York in terms of collection size. The building is very grand, and it houses nearly 1.5 million items, ranging from ancient Egyptian art to contemporary and modern art. It’s wonderful!

My sister and I were dying to see Iris van Herpen’s exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, and it was absolutely fantastic. The way her thinking, creative process, team, and work were presented allowed visitors to truly follow her evolution while simply standing in awe. I’ve seen many great designers over the years, but I can’t say I’ve seen anyone quite like Herpen. The gravitas her work has achieved in such a relatively short period of time—around 15 years—is truly remarkable. As for the Brooklyn Museum itself, I find it especially interesting for its Ancient Egyptian, Assyrian, and Ancient Asian collections. The scale is manageable, and the museum does a great job of highlighting important and meaningful works without becoming overwhelming. I highly recommend visiting the Brooklyn Museum periodically, as there always seems to be something new and worthwhile to discover. And if you have the chance to see the Iris van Herpen exhibition, definitely don’t miss it!

Beautiful museum with an impressive collection! I visited in the early afternoon on a weekday and it wasn’t busy at all. Coat check is very convenient and easy. Love the pay what you can model, though I opted for the recommended $20. However, some areas of the museum seemed a bit run down, and in one exhibition, a museum guard was having a loud personal conversation through their earbuds I presume. I also noticed another visitor touch a couple objects in the Egyptian collection while I was there. Not sure if security is kept up well here. Regardless, I do think this museum is worth visiting as I really did enjoy what I saw.

Excellent museum. I visited all five floors and enjoyed all of them. I think my favorite was the American art floor, which had a huge variety of works, including a gallery of randomly assorted paintings. The Egyptian collection was also stunning. The beautiful classical building is right next to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, so if you like outdoor activity you can make a day of it.

Good to see Iris Van Herpen designs in real. Design of the exhibition was great. Music, colors and atmosphere were magnificent. Other parts of the museum were great too.
